Test result
Negative at 20 parts per million (ppm), meaning it is less than 20 ppm. Though standards vary from country to country, according to the FDA, "In order to use the term 'gluten free' on its label a food must meet all the requirements of the definition, including that the food must contain less than 20 ppm gluten." It is said that products with a gluten content below 20 ppm are suitable for people with celiac disease.

My experience drinking Tsingtao
A crisp, light and refreshing beer. Definitely one of my favorites - a must with Chinese food.  This is what a lager should be - other brewers please take note. Easy to drink and no compromising on flavor; malt and hops in perfect harmony. I am not sure where I fall in the gluten tolerance spectrum; I am gluten intolerant but not celiac. I definitely know what it feels like to be “glutened” i.e. gluten exposure, but I have not deliberately pushed my gluten consumption limits with any food or beer. I consumed this 12 oz. bottle in 30 minutes and felt no gluten effects.

  1. I've been getting tested for coeliac for the last 3 months and Fi ally had it confirmed that I have the disease. Over that time I tried a whole range of gluten free lagers and beers to get an idea if what the future might hold. I was so pleased when I found that tsingtao is less than 20 ppm and tucked in. I've always liked this lager and have never had any significant gluten affects from drinking. But it's all personal taste so try as many as you can and settle on the ones you enjoy nit the ones your told are good. Happy drinking.

  9. It's the WHEAT FOLKS!!! Start connecting the axiomatic dots for yourself.
I've had Celiac's for twelve years now. A friend suggested Heineken. I tried it and expected a week of craps and bloating....Low and behold nothing, nothing, nothing....NO REACTION. Celiac's disease and gluten intolerance are still in the infancy stages of research/ understanding. What's clear, is that the gluten peptide/protein structures of wheat, barley, and rye grains are very
different indeed. Most individuals have catastrophic reactions to WHEAT, not the other gluten grains....... There is always the exception, but in my many years with this malady and all the folks I've spoken with (both professional and otherwise) WHEAT is the big offender....So drink and be merry. My personal suggestions: Heineken, Tsing Tao, St. Pauli Girl, Peroni, Pilsner Urquel..... rock n' roll hoochie coo.

    2. One thing is celiac disease, another thing is wheat intolerance, and another one is to be extremely sensible to gluten. All those have similar symptoms when exposure.
