Test result
Negative at 10 parts per million (ppm), meaning it is less than 10 ppm. Though standards vary from country to country, according to the FDA, "in order to use the term 'gluten free' on its label a food must meet all the requirements of the definition, including that the food must contain less than 20 ppm gluten". It is said that products with a gluten content below 20 ppm are suitable for people with celiac disease.
I am not sure where I fall in the gluten tolerance spectrum; I am gluten intolerant but not celiac. I definitely know what it feels like to be "glutened" i.e. gluten exposure, but I have not deliberately pushed my gluten consumption limits with any food or beer. I consumed this 24 oz can over an hour period (drinking nothing else) without experiencing any kind of gluten reaction.
hi can u test the ppm of gluten for me on the Molson Export please
ReplyDeletethanks

Cg .
So if you drink a six pack tho wouldnt it make you sick !?
ReplyDeleteFor current 2022 updated positive result on this beer visit my blog CookingAlDante.com thanks!
DeleteCoors light is safe six pack will not hurt us and drink a lot of it. No affects at all.
ReplyDeleteDoes the country of origin affect the gluten level? Ie canada vs u.s.
ReplyDeleteThe Coors Light brewed in the UK brewery differs since wheat is added to the brew instead of corn?/rice? in the US breweries. The UK brewed Coors Light prints out wheat as an ingredient.
DeleteI wonder how regular coors would compare?
ReplyDeletefrom all I've read, it is the light beers that have the least amount of gluten..
DeleteThank you. This is a very useful tests for those beer lovers out there.
ReplyDeleteMmmm Beer.
As a Celiac who has had no felt symptoms from Omission Pale Ale which had a below 20ppm result via your tests and a tested 10ppm or less from eurofins ELISA test (omission's official site) ... I WILL ... be drinking some COORS LIGHT later today.
ReplyDeleteYour test suggests the gluten content is less than 10ppm and another site with a different home test claims it may even be as low as 5ppm.
One can only assume if I can drink Omission without symptoms than I must also be able to drink Coors Light.
Later today I will make a post giving the details on if I felt negative symptoms after consuming Coors Light.
I've tried Budweiser and Heineken several years ago and DID feel negative symptoms.
UPDATE:
ReplyDeleteOver the course of 7 hours I've had 10 ... 12 ounce Coors Lights.
I've experienced no felt symptoms so far from drinking this product.
By my 3rd Budweiser and Heineken (36 ounces) my stomach was turning, muscles were aching, and I was glued to the toilet at the hips regretting my decision.
So far with Coors Lights no issues at all. Celiacs experience gluten consumption in different ways and some don't experience any discomfort at all even though they are causing permanent damage.
If the gluten content in this beer is so low not to trigger a reaction than awesome, but you're still gambling with your health.
I personally didn't experience felt symptoms in the 7 hour period of consumption.
I have a gluten intolerance and im extremely sensitive. I tried one bottle which would normally destroy me! I have have had no side effects at all! I'm going to have two or three tonight! Fingers crossed! It's been 8 years since I had beer. Keep up the work!
ReplyDeletePaul, how did you get on after drinking 2-3 Coors?
DeleteI guess he must have died.
Deleteomg
DeleteOMG OMG OMG.... Okay... maybe a little dramatic. I have endometreosis which means that I am now wheat intolerant, or I could have a baby, so I chose the elimination of wheat. I am not crazy! I used to drink Bud Light all the time. I have not had a "regular" beer since August 2013... I have just had 2 (yes, two!) Coors Light. I am perfectly fine... 30 minutes apart so I would be curled up screaming merry blue murder if I was to react. I am off to the Dominican very soon and am going to try and avoid ice in drinks etc... so beer would be an amazing asset. Corona is next on my test list ~ in the meantime.... CHEERS! :)
ReplyDeleteyea but you are a little hyper...
DeleteI have Celiac and had been drinking Miller Lite for years and assume it was better than regular beers but had symptoms. Tried many "Gluten Free" beers and they all suck. I have switched to Coors Light and drinking it for over six months. Two an evening during the week and 6 or more on Saturday / Sunday (especially during football season). Anyway I have not had any noticeable symptoms with Coors Light. Good choice since most bars and restaurants have it on the menu. I might add that I have had Coors Light draft at bars and it does seem to bother me but that may be draft beer in general.
ReplyDeleteI have celiac disease, so I was excited to try Coors Light after reading this. I had two last night and I am sick as hell. NOT gluten free!
ReplyDeleteYeah cause you're a celiac. I'd say these guides are more for the gluten intolerant
Deletebefore I was a bud light drinker, who would always have low back pain and muscle aches the next day from the gluten. I tried coors light, no muscle aches but headache. I think the origin/content of corn product in this one should be advised to those who are sensitive. especially if it is USA GMO/BT CORN.

ReplyDeleteGood comment, AJ. I try to avoid beers containing corn to which millions of people are allergic.
ReplyDeleteI wish more brewers would choose rice (which is hypo-allergenic) as an adjunct, but most home brewers claim corn provides more flavor.
Coors has had a rice beer, Peak, for 1 1/2 years, but it is still just available in Portland/Seattle area. :(
DeleteCoors is no longer making Coors Peak. It has been discontinued .
DeleteWhy is it still on their website?

Diagnosed as Celiac last December, and was crushed to have to stop drinking beer. I tried the 'gluten free' beers, like Omission, but they are expensive and often hard to find. Found your blog, and decided to try Coors Light ... so happy I did. Served at almost every restaurant and bar, cheap ... and have had as much as a 6-pack in one evening with no ill effects. Thanks and good luck!
ReplyDeleteI am not celiac but I avoid gluten because it gives me an asthma attack… Actually some of the commercial gluten-free beers have given me asthma attacks, this site has helped… I stick to the very low PPM beers… Corona is my go to… But I can drink Coors light and Coors without problem… PBR at 20 ppm, I'm OK with one but not more. Hope that helps.
ReplyDeleteNot sure if Fresh is still reading this but wheat not gluten causes my severe asthma attacks. Starts with itch sensation or a cough then full blown asthma. othet guten is fine so far
DeleteCoors light gave me a reaction :/ was bummed since it's 10 ppm .. but PBR at 20ppm seams to me fine .. weird, maybe it's the ingredients? I think I'll try pbr again or corona extra next
ReplyDeleteAce, I really think those of us with celiac have different sensitivities to levels of gluten. What may start a immune response from one may not set off one in another. I drink Coors and Corona Extra with no ill effects.
DeleteI got a high positive result testing this beer. cookingaldante.com
DeleteI'm going to live in India for 3 months. Which beers can I drink? I'm supposed to be gluten intolerant but can drink Guinness and Bud Light.
ReplyDeleteWhatever coors light is doing to the recipe you suck. Its making my nose stop up.
ReplyDeleteI would never buy coors light, it was a gift to me, a friend i aint seen in a while that i know is not a beer dranker gave it to me.
ReplyDeleteI was wondering why LOL
DeleteCan you please test Coors Banquet Beer. I would really appreciate it. That being said, I am gluten free by diagnosed allergy and have tried Coors light and Corona and Omission with no noticeable problems.
ReplyDeleteI have extreme sensitivities to just about everything it seems and I drink Coors Light only when I drink beer and I have no problem. Everything seems to make me hyper but Coors Light is one of the magical foods I can consume and remain 100%. It even calms me and I am often calmer the next day, which is the opposite of how every other beer makes me feel, like Miller, Michelob & Bud light. I am wondering why Coors bothered making a gluten free beer when Coors Light is already so good but I'm sure it's marketing making sure they don't miss out on that market. And maybe that will bring in new customers who then go on to discover Coors Light is almost as pure. If it is pure enough to not make me hyper it is good and it will be even more calming to most other people. I feel like there is no one more sensitive than me and if I can drink it, so can you. I guess I'll try the new gluten free Coors but I am skeptical it is much better than Coors Light and if it tastes bad or isn't as strong I will be saying I was right...
ReplyDeleteCoors stopped making their gluten free beer.
DeleteSevere Celiac and I drink Corona without a reaction. Interested to try Coors light
ReplyDeleteDon’t. Check my results at CookingAlDante.com !
DeleteYou do know that the 20ppm is for things regulated (or NOT regulated) by the FDA, right? Alcohol is regulated by the AFT...and it is illegal to call alcohol "gluten free" if it contains ANY gluten....the 20ppm threshold DOES NOT EXIST for alcohol. Just pointing this out for 2 reasons: ONE: Doing your own "test" to prove it is GF doesn't make it GF...read the label...you will note that NONE of those beers say "gluten free" on them for a reason. TWO: The 20ppm is higher than most countries allow because the US has the best lobbyists. It isn't because of medical consensus. If it makes you feel better to believe it, fine....but the gluten free in this case means ZERO...bot medically and legally.
ReplyDeleteI am gluten insensitive and have tried some of the gluten lowered beers, some of which are pretty good, but I haved had better luck with coors light than any of these. This makes me very happy because I really like beer and could only drink vodka with water because of ibs.
ReplyDeleteI got a positive result on Coors light. See for yourself on my blog CookingAlDante.com
DeleteI am gluten intolerant I've read all of these comments, I live in the UK so can I drink Coors light also there is a Chinese beer that says it is 10ppm???? Not to sure of the spelling Ts-----? Any information on the uk sold beers/lagers would be a great help as I only drink magners cider when I go out to my wetherspoons. Thanks Alan
ReplyDeleteIm gluten intolerant. Beers like heiniken, miller light, give me bad gas. While i have no reaction to coors light other than the alcohol.
ReplyDeleteAnyone able to confirm if the Coors Light in Canada also uses rice or corn vs wheat?
ReplyDeleteHi I am wheat intolerant live in northern Ireland fors Coors light affect anyone
ReplyDeleteHi there, I have an updated result on my blog, CookingAlDante.com
DeleteI was diagnosed as HEPATITIS B carrier in 2013 with fibrosis of the
ReplyDeleteliver already present. I started on antiviral medications which
reduced the viral load initially. After a couple of years the virus
became resistant. I started on HEPATITIS B Herbal treatment from
ULTIMATE LIFE CLINIC (www.ultimatelifeclinic.com) in March, 2020. Their
treatment totally reversed the virus. I did another blood test after
the 6 months long treatment and tested negative to the virus. Amazing
treatment! This treatment is a breakthrough for all HBV carriers.
I’ve just triple tested two separate bottles of Coors Light and got a very high positive result! See for yourself at CookingAlDante.com
